A Portuguese Palissy double crab motif dish by Manuel Mafra, featuring a pair of red and grey crabs squaring off at each other against a shredded clay grass effect background adorned with clam shells. Manuel Mafra was one of the most renowned producers of Portuguese Palissy at his workshops in the epicentre of production, the town of Caldas da Rainha. c1880
